Ghaleena loves to teach "Parties with your Sister" and Girl Scout and Children's Parties. I tailor the parties based on what the host is looking for - whether you want to just learn the basic movements and history of belly dance, or you are looking for more spiritual or emotional side of the dance with your basic instruction. I really enjoy teaching workshops for young girls and vary the content of the discussion and the dance to suit the age of the young ladies who participate. I really love to teach young children to feel good about themselves and their bodies, no matter what they look like on the outside. I strongly feel that we all need to feel comfortable in our own skin and love ourselves for who we are! I have two young daughters myself, and they have grown up watching me dance and dancing with me. They are comfortable with their bodies and confident in themselves.

My dance name is very meaningful to me. It is a combination of my name - Gail, and my Mother's name - Lena. My Mom passed away in 2006, right after I took my first belly dance class. I wanted my dance name to be a tribute to her. Ghaleena also means small intelligent one in Arabic. Galena is also a mineral, and since I went to school for geology and worked as an environmental scientist, I thought it was fitting. Galena is a stone of harmony, bringing balance on all levels and harmonizing the physical, etheric and spiritual planes. It is a grounding stone, anchoring and centering.

To My Sister In Dance

I will not point out your failures
I will not expound upon our differences
I will not show you disrespect
YOU ARE MY SISTER

I will Zaghareet at your shimmies
I will clap for your hip drops
I will return your smile
YOU ARE MY SISTER

I will let you dance first at the hafla
I will let you pick our song
I will give you the recognition you deserve
YOU ARE MY SISTER

I will sing with you
drum with you
dance with you
YOU ARE MY SISTER
